The NCC was among 175 organizations which signed onto a letter to Reps. Barton (R-TX) and Skelton (D-MO) conveying support for those legislators' introduction of resolutions of disapproval under the Congressional Review Act regarding EPA's decision to move forward on regulating carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act.

US Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Chairman Blanche Lincoln (D-AR), and Ranking Member Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), expressed disappointment after Brazil said it is moving forward on retaliation for injuries due to the US cotton program and the export credit guarantee program (GSM-102).

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced on March 5 that USDA will issue approximately $121 million in partial '09-crop counter-cyclical payments to producers with upland cotton and peanut base acres enrolled in USDA's Direct and Counter-cyclical Payment program.
